Stocks, mutual funds, and other securities

By donating stocks, mutual funds, or other securities directly to IDF, you can provide support to the PI community while also receiving potential tax savings and avoiding paying capital gains. This type of planned giving can be a beneficial way to make a meaningful impact.

Donor-advised fund (DAF)

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that offers immediate tax benefits and allows you to recommend grants to charities of your choice at your discretion. By designating IDF as a beneficiary of a final grant, the remaining funds in your DAF can be distributed according to your wishes.

Retirement account beneficiary

By naming the IDF as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or IRA, you can support the PI community with any unused retirement assets while potentially avoiding federal income tax for your heirs. This can be easily done in most states through a retirement or IRA designation of beneficiary form.

Life insurance

Life insurance policies can be a simple and effective way to support IDF's mission if the original purpose no longer applies, such as supporting grown children or a spouse. By updating your beneficiary designation form with the policyholder, you can name IDF as a beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount, or even make IDF both the owner and beneficiary of an existing policy, qualifying for a federal income tax charitable deduction if you itemize your taxes.
